1843-C .5 Large AU50 NGC CAC
Superbly original and with attractive original coloring. This important Charlotte mint issue is hard to locate for two reasons: 1) It is hard to find 1843-C .5 where their patina has not been stripped of their natural hues. 2) Most examples are heavily abraded. Because of this combination these examples are highly sought after.
The offered example has plenty of meat and plenty of underlying luster in the protected areas of the design. The strike is bold for this issue, which is often weak at the centers. The eye appeal is incredible as the color has deep orange-gold hues, an important sign that it is original. As such we can see this in a higher graded holder eventually. There are two major varieties for the 1843-C, Small Date and Large Date which about 225 are known today. Weak strikes, unoriginal patina and heavily abraded surface makes this coin almost a miracle. A lower graded CAC XF45 sold at LE 05/2021 for ,173.
