1946 SOLDIER'S ARMY MEDAL IN CASE, GIVEN TO WELLMAN PAGE, USN UNUSUAL. Here is a fascinating piece of World War II WWII military medal award history, an army soldiers medal awarded to a US Navy corpsman awarded to Wellman page, usn, along with a newspaper article describing his citation for heroism in service. The gorgeous engraved soldiers medal awarded to EM 2/c Welman page U.S.N., Soldiers medal for valor, was given to Wellman Page after he exhibited heroism not involving actual conflict with the enemy. The newspaper describes that, as crew of the sea rescue boat he made a 450 mile trip into the Bay of Bengal to rescue a crew of an airplane which had crashed. This mission involved going within sight of the enemy shoreline for great distances and in a territory where interception and attacked by air was to be expected and probable. In addition, it was known that enemy ships constantly patrol these waters. Despite these patrols and the hazards of weather, the mission was successfully completed and the crew of the airplane rescued. Signed Edward F. Witsell, Major General. Please review photos. Beautiful U.S. Army soldier's medal for valor, and it's original display case with accompanying bars,, and newspaper article describing the award, awarded to Welman Page, us navy, by the army, will make a wonderful addition to your exceedingly scarce unique crossover military branch metal award collection, unique story valor award memorabilia collection, or WWII valor metal memorabilia collection.
