    ADDITIONAL INFO
This is a contemporary longcase clock made in the style used during the reign of King Louis XVth of France.
The original clocks took the form of a baroque styled mantel clock placed upon a tall rococo ornate pedestal which could be tapered or in the bombe style as it is here.
This particular example made in the late 20th century has a shaped domed hood in a tri-lobed shape with the three outcroppings having applied ormolu acanthus leaves, all surrounding the large glazed brass bezel.
The surface of the hood has satinwood type marquetry inlay but in a veneered form.
A flat cornice separates the hood from the bombe shaped trunk with the lyre shaped waist section having marquetry veneering.
The wide expanse of surface is nicely covered by the multi-color marquetry patterns, while there is a concentric lyre shaped glazed section edged in gilding.
This allows one to see the arc of the gilt gridiron pendulum with its polished gilt brass lyre ornament.
Below is an elongated shaped pedestal covered with foliate marquetry veneering and gilt edged.
The case rests on a rounded broad Kingwood base with flared French feet each having applied Dore bronze animal paw feet.
There is a gently curved apron between the front feet with applied goddess head mask and gilt foliage.
Dial: A round hammered brass dial with white porcelain shield shaped cameos for the Roman hours with white porcelain smaller cameos for the Arabic five-minute markers.
Hour no. 6 is marked 'Made in Italy'.
Between the hour chapter ring and the five minute markers is a closed minute ring.
There is a myriad of designs in the brass dial including egg-and-dart ornamentation on the periphery, beading, curled leaves and arboreal forms throughout the entire dial and two steel skeletonized Chippendale style steel hands.
    The dial is unsigned.
There may be (not shown) an aperture near the three which allows one to control the chime/silent issue.
    There are three winding apertures.
Movement: A solid rectilinear punctate brass plate movement, the back plate marked for Franz Hermle & Son with movement No. FH351-05-3H.
It has three-barrel springs for this eight-day time, half hourly striking and quarterly Westminster chiming movement.
I believe that there are four hammers on either side of the movement striking on eight metal rods, divided into two sets of four rods.
The movement carries the logo of the Franz Hermle Clock Company of Germany.
A gridiron pendulum rod with brass bob swings inside the case below.
The lower end of the rod has an applied polished brass lyre ornament.
Condition: The case appears to be in very fine condition as does the dial and the movement appears clean and likely functional. A very fine contemporary reproduction of the 18th century French style.
