    Description

As an amateur woodworker I handcrafted two copies of an original Pennsylvania tall clock we had in the family for my daughters who have modern stuff and thus, unfortunately, don't want them.  So one is for sale.
What I liked most about this clock was the unusually large face and pleasing overall proportions.  I've seen no modern clocks with large painted faces, they all have the small, cheap looking, brassy ones instead.
This was a multi-year project. I measured and photographed the original, owned by my uncle in Wilmington Del,  and made these to be very accurate copies, except for the modern three-chime movements.  I started with a walnut log cut near Tysons corner in the WDC suburbs, which I had custom milled and dried.  Then over a period of years I constructed the two clocks.  Each clock comes with detailed pictures of it in various stages of construction. The face was custom painted by an artist expert in clock-face restoration.  A brass plaque lists the clockmaker in SE Penn who made the original.  I invented and patented a dovetail jig in the process.
This is the same high-quality, one of a kind piece one sees in craft furniture galleries and is priced accordingly. Don't sell often on eBay so couldn't figure out how to delete where it says Best Offer.  This is fixed price only.  Except I would consider a lower price to a museum who wants to display it.  Buyer must arrange pickup in Santa Rosa Cal and handle shipping. Be glad to tell you more if interested.
