Hand-painted statue / figurine depicting an elderly Polish Miner with an original chunk of salt sitting atop a barrel from the world famous Wieliczka Salt Mine, near Krakow, Poland
The mine is an official Polish Historic monument and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List (it began operations during the late 13th Century)
Purchased directly from the site in October 2003 during my travel to Krakow, Poland
Still in its original plastic container, it is a rare piece, standing 6 inches tall, it is a wonderful piece of Poland's rich, cultural history
In wonderful condition, only discrepancy is that some areas of its hand paint has flaked off over the past 21 years.
