    Description

This is a Named United States Navy Good Conduct medal.  It has the original slot type brooch, original ribbon drape and original bottom ribbon holder.  The planchet is in very good condition, with no edge knocks and the reverse is officially impressed "JOSEPH/EDWARD/JOHNSON/1944".
Mr. Johnson was born in Ootewah, Tennessee, on December 7, 1915, and first enlisted in the US Navy in June of 1941 at Nashville Tennessee, and took basic training at USNTS Great Lakes, IL.  He saw stateside service at New Orleans Naval Station, LA; US Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL; and NAAS Corry Field, FL.  He was honorable discharged at Pensacola, FL in December of 1945 as a Seaman 2nd Class (S2c).
He died on February 3, 1990, in Tennessee, and is buried at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
I will provide a 7 page copy of his service records from the St. Louis archives and a copy of a picture of his headstone.  I can only assume that he was also eligible for the American Defense Service medal, the American Campaign medal and the World War II Victory medal, but if issued, the whereabouts are unknown.
